Pizza is a delectable and delightful dish all over the world. It may be made in a variety of ways and with a variety of toppings, but the basic structure of crust, seasoning, and cheese stays the same. It’s a great tasting lunch that can be brought to your door for a get-together with friends or a fast bite to eat after a long shift. Interestingly, a slew of world records involving pizza has been devised. There are the anticipated records, such as the world’s largest pizza or heaviest pizza, however, there are some anomalies, such as the fastest time to eat a piece of pizza too. We have compiled a list of the ones we thought were the most fascinating for this post regarding my favourite food, pizza.
World’s largest pizza
Dovilio Nardi, Matteo Giannotti, Nardi, Matteo Nardi, Andrea Mannocchi and Marco (all residing in Italy) from NIPfood made the biggest pizza, with a total surface area of 1,261.65 m2 (13,580.28 ft2), on December 13, 2012, at Fiera Roma in Rome, Italy. The pizza was nicknamed “Ottavia,” a term of Roman origin meaning “eighth son,” as a tribute to the first Roman emperor, Octavian Augustus, who symbolised an Anthropocene shift in Roman history and propelled the Empire into an era of economic and cultural stability. Ottavia was completely gluten-free.
World’s heaviest pizza
The world’s heaviest pizza weighed a staggering 26,883 pounds. Unlike the world’s largest pizza, the world’s heaviest pizza was made in Norwood Hypermarket in Norwood, South Africa, and measured just over 122 feet in diameter. On December 10, 1990, a large pizza was created. It was made up of roughly 10,000 pounds of dough, 4,000 pounds of cheese, 2,000 pounds of tomato puree, and hundreds of pounds of various toppings such as mushrooms and tomatoes.
World Record for Eating the Most Pizza
Geoffrey Esper holds the world record for eating the most 9-inch pizzas. Would you believe he ate 19.25 pizzas in less than ten minutes? This equates to him eating nearly two pizzas each minute! Esper is from Oxford, Massachusetts, however, he accomplished the record during the Vaughan Pizza Festival, which is located north of Toronto. Joey Chestnut, a previous world record holder, finished second in the pizza-eating challenge. That day, he only ate 17 pizzas.
Greatest Variety of Cheese on a Pizza
A 99-cheese pizza had been on the menu at a small chain of pizzerias in Australia. The pizza company is owned by Johnny di Francesco, a Melbourne chef. Johnny di Francesco vowed to outdo himself after someone constructed a pizza with 111 different varieties of cheese. On September 5, 2018, he accomplished this by constructing a 154-cheese pizza.
World’s Highest Pizza Toss
Tossing pizza dough into the air is a technique used by pizza cooks all around the world. Tossing the pizza dough helps expand it into the ideal shape and also results in the ideal crust. It’s unlikely that it makes a difference how high the pizza dough is thrown. Some pizza cooks, on the other hand, like seeing how far their pizza can float. Joe Carlucci is awarded the highest pizza toss. On April 20, 2006, the global record was set in the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He launched 20 ounces of pizza dough 21 feet 5 inches into the air.
Fastest Time to Eat a 12″ Pizza
The fastest timings for eating a medium Domino’s pizza, an 8-inch Totino’s pizza, and a heart-shaped pizza are listed on record-setting websites. The usual and most common statistic, though, is how quickly you can consume a 12-inch pizza. Kelvin Medina just set the Guinness record for fastest pizza eating on April 12, 2015. He won his championship in a tournament held in Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines. Medina was proclaimed the champion after clocking a time of only 23.62 seconds for completing his pizza.
Largest Pizza Delivery
On Independence Day in 2012, one non-profit organisation named Pizzas 4 Patriots realized that the United States Armed Forces needed a taste of home. As a result, they planned for Great Kitchens, Inc. in Illinois to cook 30,000 12-inch pizzas for every US Servicemen and woman overseas. On June 21, 2012, the pizzas were delivered by DHL Express to Kandahar Airfield, Bagram Airbase, and Camp Bastion in Afghanistan.
Most Pizzas Made in One Hour
On December 9, 2010, Brian Edler of Findlay, Ohio, set this record in a Domino’s restaurant on North Main St. Every pizza had to have a 14-ounce 12-inch-diameter base, four to six ounces of sauce, and eight to ten ounces of cheese. Despite the fact that he cooked 215 pizzas in all, only 206 of them fulfilled the judges’ standards. However, that sum was sufficient to secure him the record.
Most Toppings on One Pizza
Although it is not officially recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records, the honorary winner of the most topping on one pizza is a female from Los Angeles, California, who goes by the handle Catrific. She came up with 27 different toppings to layer onto her pizza while adhering to the fundamental guidelines established for the record. Everything from pepperoni, sausage, and bell peppers to cookies, chillies, mac and cheese is available in Travis Scott Burger. As of October 15, 2014, when her attempt video was posted, her record stood.
Largest Dessert Pizza
Many of the members who contributed to creating the world’s largest pizza returned for dessert. On October 20, 2013, the crew assembled to create a dessert pizza that measured 153.71 square feet or 14.28 square metres. They had used 881 pounds of flour, 440 pounds of water, and 13 pounds of salt simply to produce the dough! The pizza, like their prior record, was gluten-free and given a moniker, Francesca. The crew needed 43 minutes to finish cooking the pizza’s foundation.
Most Pizza Eaten in 10 Minutes
Joey Chestnut is a man who has earned the title of hot-dog-eating champion, so it should be no surprise that he ate the most pizza in 10 minutes. On October 12, 2008, at a Famous Famiglia pizza-eating competition in Times Square, this pizza world record was set. Despite being only 24 years old at the time, he beat off the other ten competitors, along with the old record holder, after consuming 45 pizza slices in ten min. He was awarded $5,000 for his accomplishments, and it is believed that he devoured 11,700 calories and 450 g of fat in a day.
Largest Pizza Commercially Available
Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria in Los Angeles, California sell a square pizza that measures four and a half feet on each side, or little more than 20 square feet. This pizza costs $199.99 (plus tax), yet it is claimed to feed between 50 and 100 people. The meal must be ordered at least 24 hours in advance, and it can only be delivered within a certain radius of the restaurant. You might not have tasted the world’s largest pizza, but you can now buy the largest pizza commercially available.
